Preschool Rainbow Activities

I'm sharing some really fun, simple and educating preschool rainbow activities just in time for St. Patrick's Day this weekend (though I think a rainbow theme can work LOTS of times throughout the year).  The great thing about teaching kids is that often you can put together activities in 5 minutes or less and you can use items that you have around your house.

St. Patrick's Day Preschool Activities

I love holidays and I especially love celebrating them with my kids!  I also love to combine holiday fun with learning.  That is why I am sharing some fun St. Patrick's Day preschool activities and free printables today.

This year I have two preschoolers at home with me and they are 4 and 2.  I like to try and find activities that each of them can enjoy.  With that in mind I have created fun activities that can work for both of them.

Make a Rainbow

Lava Lamp in a Bag

This lava lamp in a bag is the perfect activity for kids on a day when it is either too cold or hot to play outside. With only 3 ingredients that you can find very easily, this activity can be put together quickly and provides lots of entertainment and even some educational value.

If you want to add it to science unit you can talk about the different densities of water and oil and how like molecules are attracted to each other. Or you can just let them play with the bag and watch their delight as they form different patterns merely by pressing down on the bag.

No Cook Play Dough

This no cook play dough recipe that I am sharing today is really simple to throw together and I always have the ingredients on hand.  It's a great alternative to all the recipes that call for cream of tartar that you cook on the stove.  If you do have cream of tartar and are looking for a cooked version you can check out this recipe.
