Halloween Decor Tips

Halloween Decor Made Simple

Starting in fall there seem to be so many holidays right in a row. It can get crazy, busy, and difficult to find time to decorate for each holiday. I really love decorating so I try to find simple ways to add festive holiday decorations for each one, starting with Halloween decor. I also have to balance that with a husband who really likes to keep things simple. Here are some ideas for creating vignettes around your house that aim to inspire you to find  some easy ways to add holiday cheer for Halloween.

Find a Focal Point to Put Your Halloween Decor

Halloween decor on arch

I have a fun arch that leads from the entry into the back part of the house. I found a black garland and tied some bright orange flowers to it to add a pop of color. I also added the BEWARE sign above to add to the spooky feel. It's probably the first thing people notice when they come into my house. I really love having that arch and changing the decorations on it.

Letter E with pumpkins

This letter hangs on my command center wall and I simply added a few little styrofoam pumpkins from the Dollar Tree to make it more festive!

Display Halloween Decor Creatively Around Existing Features

Unfortunately for me, I have a t.v. smack dab in the middle of my mantle. I hope to change that someday, but for now, I have to decorate around it. I think I did a pretty good job of covering up the antennae and tin box that holds our remotes.

Here is a close up of the left hand side of the mantle. My lantern was the same size as the pumpkin in a pot. I put a box underneath to add some height. Then I covered it over with the black pumpkin garland. Shh, don't tell.

You may have noticed that there is a theme to my mantle (other than the obvious color scheme). I decided to go with a pumpkin scheme based on the fun pumpkin led light garland that I used underneath the t.v. I placed the pillow and the "spooky" letters so that they could cover the antennae and the tin box I keep our remotes in. I like to be sneaky like that.

Repurpose Old Decorations With Something New

I found the spider at the Dollar Tree and added it to this spider web that I have had for a long time. My toddler loves this spider. He mentions it almost every time we walk by it. This is the ONLY spider I am ok with having inside my house. We have had some crazy big spiders at our house this year and I am NOT ok with it!

Add Little Touches in Unexpected Places

I love these jingle bell pumpkins and hanging them on the extra hook by our keys seemed like the perfect little home for those two grinning jack-o-lanterns. This is literally the easiest decoration of all. It's near the door so anyone coming in can see our festive decorations and it doesn't overwhelm the space.

I love this hat that my aunt made for me because she knows how much I love Halloween! After my kids took turns trying it on we stuck it on the banister so that it stays up on its own. Again, this is a simple and effective way to add a touch of festive fun to your Halloween decor.

Group Like Items Together For a Fun Vignette

I like to call this my witches corner. This display is above the cabinet where we store all of our DVDS and my exercise equipment. This picture is a perfect example of how decorating for the holidays inspires me to clean up and keep things tidy. Then I can really appreciate my decorations.

I hope these pictures gave you some inspiration and ideas for how to decorate your own space this October. I would love to see your pictures on Instagram #peachtreedr. Thanks for stopping by to look at some of my ideas for easy and fun Halloween vignettes. What is your favorite holiday to decorate for?
