I"m starting off the month of February by talking about how we can show love to ourselves and our family by kicking the chemicals to the curb and finding natural alternatives. Today I am addressing how I was able to use a natural head lice treatment to treat all the girls in my family (myself included!)
Meal Planning for Breakfast and Lunch
There is a lot of information available for helping people to do meal planning for dinner. What about for those of us who make breakfast and lunch (and snacks and dessert) for every day of the week too? Don't worry, I have you covered. I have been meal planning and cooking food from scratch for many years.
My Experience With Creating a Meal Plan
I learned how to make a meal plan when I was really young. My mom taught me how to create a meal plan, make a grocery shopping list, and then to execute said meal plan as I helped her with grocery shopping every week.
When I first got married, I only knew how to make about ten meals and we rotated through those ten meals over and over again. Over time, I started incorporating more and more recipes into our meal plan and after about two years I had taken my meal planning to a whole new level.
Do You Feel Like You Have a lot of Food Waste?
I think it's safe to say that I am not the only one who has spent time cleaning out my fridge and feeling frustrated at all the food waste.
At one point we were on a really tight budget and I didn't want to spend even an extra dime on something that wasn't going to be used.
Over time I developed some strategies that helped me to use all the food that I bought and greatly reduced the amount of food waste in our home.
Splurge on Some Things To Save Overall
Over the years I have developed some strategies that help me to save on my grocery budget while still allowing room to splurge on a few things that help me create the kind of lifestyle I want. If you consider the percentage of our income that is spent on food, it's easy to see how making just a few minor tweaks can really save us a lot of money overall. Read on to see how I have done just that.
I may sound cliche when I say that Christmas is "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year", but for me it truly is. I love the decorations, music, delicious food, social gatherings and the overall focus on looking outward to uplift and brighten other peoples lives.
What I don't love is stressing out over what to buy for people, wrestling with the holiday crowd or how to pay for everything without going broke.
School Lunch Tips
Back to school time is always bittersweet for me. I'm happy to have more structure in our lives, but I miss my kids and the flexibility and freedom we have during the summer. Having kids going all different directions takes a lot of organizing. Over the years I have figured out some school lunch tips that I hope will help you as you help your kids pack a lunch every day.
Why Do I Have a Summer Schedule for my Kids?
Having a summer schedule has always been part of my life. When I was a kid my mom kept us busy every morning with reading, chores, and daily activities that rotated every day.
My mom worked from home and it was very important for her to have time each day to get her work done. I grew up with all the structured activities during the summer and I loved it.
When I became a mom I knew early on that I wanted to continue that tradition with my kids.
