3 Essential Oil Blends that have positively benefited me and my family

Using Essential Oils

I have been using essential oils since I was a kid. My dad was always into natural and home remedies and he often kept a bottle of tea tree oil in the cupboard to help with minor cuts and scrapes. As I became a mother to young children, I found other uses for oils that helped them with digestion and eczema.

That's about as far as my journey took me until I found myself with a new born and 3 children who seemed to get sick ALL. The. Time.  I knew it was time for me to step up the game and start researching different options to help boost their immune systems. We were heading into fall and all the sickness that seems to accompany that time of year.

I wanted my newborn to have a safe and healthy environment to grow and develop without being susceptible to sickness passed on from his older sisters. So, I got a bottle of essential oil blends to help boost immunity. I had my girls put it on every day. ( If you are putting essential oils on babies and children make sure that you don't put them directly on the skin. They need to be mixed with a carrier oil) I also put it on myself. I noticed that we had a really healthy winter.

And that is when my intense love for essential oils was really born. I started researching different companies and their process for making oils. I also tried different brands and varieties. After all my research, I decided to use Young Living Essential Oils.

It's a decision I haven't once regretted. The benefits of incorporating essential oils, as is the case with any healthy habit, takes time to notice. It's not something that will seem really obvious after one use. The best practice is steady and consistent and drawn out over time.

If you are impatient (like me) and don't want to wait a long time to see some benefits, don't despair. Today I am going to share three essential oils blends, that I use regularly, that had noticeable benefits with my first use.

Purification

This is a blend of oils that is designed as an air freshener. If you look closely at the ingredients of most air fresheners, you will see all the difficult to pronounce names of chemicals and ingredients that really aren't that good for us. But, I have kids, and I think we have all established that though kids in and of themselves are adorable, some of their smells are, well, NOT!

Shoes tend to be a sneaky, stinky culprit that are just waiting to surprise our sensors in not so delightful ways. Enter Purification and the smelly shoe issue instantaneously disappears!

All you need is a tissue (or a cotton ball) and a drop of this air freshening blend. Then you stick it inside the shoe and let it sit for a few hours or overnight. Problem solved. I was seriously amazed at how well it worked. For one child in particular we have tried all kinds of things to help with the stinky shoes. Nothing else seemed to really get rid of the smell. This oil truly did the trick. Now it's just a matter of making it a daily habit . . .

Deep Relief

This little roller has been so great to keep on hand. I like to have it close by when I am getting ready to sleep. When I put it on my sore muscles, I can feel an immediate relief for muscle tension. Though it does take time to penetrate the muscles and to help relax, there is definitely an immediate soothing response that signals to my brain that it is starting to work.

I like to compare it to the benefits of physical therapy. When you go the first time, it doesn't completely heal, but you can tell that you are on the road to recovery. It smells really good as well and has a soothing and calming element that is very conducive to loosening tight muscles.

This is a blend that I don't want to imagine being without. The older I get, the more my muscles tend to tighten up and I want to do all that I can to stay flexible and limber. This roll on blend is really a great tool to help me do just that.

Breathe Again

Breathing is a beautiful thing. When we can breathe well, it's easy to forget what a miraculous process it truly is. When that function is NOT performing well, boy do we notice! I don't know about you, but I start to feel a bit panicky if I can't breathe well. Even getting a simple cold can trigger me to have a minor anxiety or panic attack. I usually talk myself out of it and immediately grab this roller.

WARNING. This stuff is really strong smelling and it's not really my favorite smell. Though when my airways aren't cooperating, I don't care!!! Something in this blend really does help to open up the passageway and to soothe my lungs. I am willing to endure a bit of strong smells so that I can breathe again.

Really, the name says it all. And when we can breathe, life is good.

There are lots of other essential oils that I use and over time I will be sharing my favorite ways to use them. Have you ever used essential oils? What questions do you have?
